RT9172 系列低壓差線性穩壓器可在 2.25V-6V 輸入下工作，有很寬範圍的輸出電壓已預設好的版本可供選用。這些低壓差的線性穩壓器對負載的快速變化具有很快的回應速度，適合於低壓 MCU 使用。它使用內置的 P-MOSFET 作為調整元件，在重載和直通狀態下也不會有更多的地電流出現。關機狀態下很低的電流消耗使之適合節能系統使用。此外，它還具有電流限制保護和過熱保護功能。
